Jody Boyd

MUSICIAN | PRODUCER | MIXER | ENGINEER | OWNER

A professional musician for decades, a music producer and multi-instrumentalist, a mixer, engineer and gear hoarder, Jody pretty much kicks ass. He composes custom music, produces, creates sound design, records, mixes and engineers for online videos, commercials, films and independent projects for large and small clients such as Walmart, Disney, Capital One, Virginia Lottery and Pale Blue Dot and Matt Lockhart Bands. Jody completed his Bachelor of Music at VCU and attended the Eastman School of Music as a graduate student. He loves to stay busy playing regularly in multiple bands (including 64 Crayons Band) and is also self-taught tomato soup connoisseur and classic car enthusiast.


Andrew Uvarov

ENGINEER | SOUND MIXER | LOCATION RECORDIST

Born and raised in Riga, Latvia, and also a VCU Grad, Andrew is Red Amp's resident sound doctor and brainiac. A classical guitarist from age 9, he specializes in post-production as well as location and studio sound recording with extensive experience in sound editing, mixing, and sound design for commercials, online videos, broadcast, shorts and feature films. Andrew’s recent credits include Pictures the Obamas, How The Monuments Came Down and the Emmy winning PBS Series The Future of America’s Past.


Jay Smack

VOICE TALENT | ENGINEER | PODCASTER

Jay has a background in nearly all facets of the industry, from voiceovers and radio broadcasting, to podcasting, recording, mixing, and engineering which provides a unique perspective from all sides of the desk. Jay currently produces two podcasts: The Good Eye Podcast A platform for positivity.  Within reason. (conversations about wellness, mindfulness, health, creativity & non-profit organizations) and StudioB Live hosted at Red Amp (Interviews, live performances and music from local and regional artists). He also is an avid cyclist and annually participates in Bike MS to raise money for multiple sclerosis.


Billy Bacci

ASSISTANT ENGINEER | LOCATION RECORDIST

Billy is a location production sound mixer and assistant studio engineer. A recent credit is on the sound department for the Apple TV series “Swagger” Season 2. Billy is also a multi-instrumentalist and you can find him playing keyboards and guitar with various bands in the Richmond area when he isn’t trail running, reading or traveling.


Marna Bales

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER | VOCALIST | OWNER

Marna manages all things audio including budgets, talent and client relations. She is a songwriter who feels quite at home behind the microphone as an accomplished vocalist and professional voice talent (SAG-AFTRA member) and lead vocalist in her band, 64 Crayons. Marna is a VCU alum with a degree in Mass Communications and Public Relations whose diverse industry experience includes broadcast production management at the Martin Agency and communications coordination at Genworth. Also an entrepreneur, she founded Kul Wheels Electric Bikes (“kul” means “fun” in Swedish, a nod to her Scandinavian heritage).


Margaret Gupton

COORDINATOR | ASSISTANT PRODUCER

Margaret is the first face you’ll see when you come to Red Amp — and she is always smiling. Her many talents include scheduling and managing projects, overseeing Red Amp’s world-wide voice talent roster and taking care of the daily goings-on at the studio. Margaret got her feet wet in the industry while interning at the Virginia Film Office and as well as crewing on film sets. She is also a former barista, loves RVA and is a devout Disney fan.
